This simple, satisfying breakfast has become one of our go-to meals. Just toast, egg, and rich, umami-packed miso butter. Best part? The miso butter can be made ahead of time and used on everything from toast to pasta or even baked potatoes.

Ingredients

  • Toasted sourdough bread
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 tbsp @sharedcultures Black Garlic Miso
  • 1 egg (cooked to your liking)
  • Scallions, chopped (optional)
  • Sansho pepper or black pepper

Method

  1. Make the miso butter: In a bowl, mix together butter, miso, and scallions if using. Store leftovers in the fridge.
  2. Assemble the toast: Spread miso butter generously on toasted sourdough.
  3. Top with a cooked egg and finish with scallions and a sprinkle of sansho or black pepper.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy!
